Belvedere means "beautiful view" in Italian, and that just about says it all. The scenic city is one of the most exclusive communities in the Bay Area and is surrounded on all sides by breathtaking vistas: Mount Tamalpais and the Richardson Bay to the west, Angel Island and the Tiburon hills to the north and east, and the San Francisco skyline and Golden Gate and Bay bridges to the south. Belvedere, home of the San Francisco Yacht Club, shares its downtown and many amenities with neighboring Tiburon.
What to See
The historic China Cabin, a 19th century seaside saloon, is located in Belvedere, and ferries to Angel Island leave from the Tiburon ferry terminal.
